BMC molding compound Bulk molding compound has excellent electrical properties, mechanical properties, heat resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and adapts to various molding processes, which can meet performance requirements of various products, so it is more and more popular among users.
thermosetting BMC plastics
Bulk molding compound (BMC molding compound) is a thermoset plastic in which various inert fillers, fiber reinforcements, catalysts, stabilizers and pigments are mixed to form an adhesive "putty-like" for compression or injection molding composite material. Bulk molding compound (BMC molding compound) is highly filled and reinforced with short fibers, 10% to 30% glass fiber reinforcement, is typically between 1/32 inch and 1/2 inch (12.5mm) in length.
Depending on end application, formulated composites provide precise dimensional control, good flame retardancy and tracking resistance, high dielectric strength, corrosion and stain resistance, excellent mechanical properties, low shrinkage and Color stability. Bulk Molding Compounds (BMC Molding Compounds) have excellent flow properties, excellent insulation and flame retardancy, making them ideal for a wide variety of applications where detail and dimensional accuracy are required. Materials are available in 75 colors and are resistant to powder spray or water-based paint.
Nature:
Bulk prepreg made of chopped glass fiber mixed with unsaturated polyester slurry. It is suitable for molding by molding, transfer molding, injection molding and other processes. Obtained products have good mechanical properties, high dimensional stability, good surface finish, water resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and electrical properties, especially arc resistance can reach about 190s.
1. General performance: proportion of BMC molding compound (DMC) is relatively large, between 1.3-2.1; product has a bright appearance, good hand feel, has a hard and heavy feeling; heating with fire will produce a lot of oil smoke and styrene odor; Some varieties of BMC molding compound (DMC) are inflammable, but some varieties are extremely flammable, leaving inorganic substances after burning.
2. Dimensional stability: Linear expansion coefficient of BMC molding compound (DMC) is (1.3-3.5)*10-5K-1, which is smaller than that of general thermoplastics, so that BMC molding compound (DMC) has high dimensional stability and dimensional accuracy. Temperature has little effect on dimensional stability of BMC molding compound (DMC), but influence of humidity is more serious. BMC molding compound will expand after absorbing moisture. Linear expansion coefficient of BMC molding compound (DMC) is very close to that of steel and aluminum, so it can be compounded with it.
3. Mechanical strength: Tensile, bending and impact strength of BMC molding compound (DMC) are higher than those of thermoplastics, creep resistance is also better than that of thermoplastics.
4. Water and solvent resistance: BMC molding compound (DMC) has good corrosion resistance to water, ethanol, aliphatic hydrocarbon, grease, oil, but not ketone, chlorohydrocarbon, aromatic hydrocarbon, acid and alkali, etc. BMC molding compound (DMC) has low water absorption, and insulation performance is still good after soaking for one day.
5. Heat resistance: Heat resistance of BMC molding compound (DMC) is better than that of general engineering plastics. Heat distortion temperature HDT is 200-280 ℃, and it can be used at a temperature of 130 ℃ for a long time.
6. Aging resistance: Aging resistance of BMC molding compound (DMC) is very good. It can be used indoors for 15-20 years, and its strength retention rate is above 60% after 10 years of outdoor exposure.
7. Electrical properties: BMC molding compound (DMC) has the most outstanding arc resistance, which can reach about 190 seconds.
8. Low odor: Styrene crosslinking agent used in BMC molding compound (DMC) will still have 0.1% residue after curing, and it will emit odor when heated. Therefore, BMC molding compound (DMC) used for food utensils (such as microwave tableware) should choose UP resin with no residual styrene monomer.
